Enterprise Architecture Body of Knowledge
Using an EA

Development

Development activities are directed at creating or enhancing systems or capabilities (including services) for an organization. An EA, as a tool that describes the high level context and relationships into which a new or evolved system must fit, is a guide and constraint to development activities. Developers can use EAs to evaluate if the program's test plans conform with EA standards and interoperability requirements prior to conducting development activities. Later, at a deployment milestone, for example, the results of a capability's test and evaluation should demonstrate conformance to an EAs guidance and direction.

This topic area provides guidance, case studies, and other references that can help engineers and developers use EA to implement capabilities for the enterprise.
